Book Review: Atomic Habits, An Easy and Proven Way to Build Good Habits by James Clear.

I’ll admit it - it’s been a while since I picked up a book about “forming habits”, I started listening to this on Audible, and straight after I finished I ordered the hard copy for my bookshelf!

Atomic Habits by James Clear does a great job of laying down the framework of how habits are formed, and shares some great strategies for building good habits and breaking bad ones. In particular, one phrase “habit stacking” jumped out to me. James clearly describes the process, and I for one will be adopting this type of strategy both for myself and for my clients, where it works for them.

The book discusses four laws to get into a habit:

  1. Make it obvious

  2. Make it attractive

  3. Make it easy

  4. Make it satisfying

I won’t spoil the book for you however, just know that it has an entire list of actionable steps you can take to help you make progress on your goals.

As we all know, starting and keeping a good habit is easier said than done, but "a thousand miles begins with a single step,". One tiny little action change incorporated into our routine that seems small and unimportant at first will compound into remarkable results if you’re willing to stick with them!

If you do pick up this book or have read it - drop me a line. I’d love to hear what your favourite takeaway from the book was!
